Our partner Svedjekojan offers exciting dog sled arrangements in the beautiful and peaceful area where their Husky Farm is located in the village of Tranuträsk near Piteå Luleå Airport. Their tours go over ice-covered lakes and through the wild forest, offering us great opportunities to vary this ancient way of traveling on snow and ice.

Piteå Ice Arena
When the ice lays its blanket over the waterways, all of winter’s opportunities for new routes open up. One of them is the ice track on Nördfjärden which, in the winter of 2021, has existed for 27 years.
Feel the wind in your face on skates, glide easily with a kicksled, take a tour along the plowed cross-country ski trail, or simply enjoy a walk over the frozen water.

Take a trip with the icebreaker
Arctic Explorer maintains daily routines from December to March and creates a route for ships through the frozen sea in Piteå. Join the Icebreakers’ daily work for 2 hours and feel like part of the crew. Learn about work on arctic ships and participate in the sailors’ daily tasks.
During the 2-hour cruise, you will be shown all the way down to the engine rooms and all the way up to the Captain’s bridge. You can relax in the cozy lounge, enjoy warm juice, or take a walk on the frozen sea.

In Rosfors, a few miles from Piteå, you will find Parfa Reindeer camp where you can visit their reindeer and learn more about Katarina and Ronny’s life in the Sami culture.

Lindbäcksstadion is a family-friendly winter facility for slalom, cross-country skiing, and biathlon. During the winter season, there are three slopes and a FUN Park with two lifts, a children’s slope, and a children’s conveyor belt.
Lindbäcksstadion is the home arena for Piteå’s world stars in skiing and biathlon.
Ice fishing & ice hole swimming.
The ice at Västra Kajen is a popular excursion destination in winter. Here you can, among other things, ice fish and take a dip in an ice hole from the piers at Piteå’s only cold bath location.
